General and specific objectives of the SENOVIE France study (Therapeutic mobility and breast cancer).

General objectivesSpecific objectives
To understand how breast cancer (diagnosis, treatment and reconstruction) impacts the life trajectories of women in many spheres (migration, family life, professional life, financial situation, etc).
  1. Describe in detail the sociodemographic characteristics, breast cancer characteristics and treatments of women treated for breast cancer, according to their migratory status (immigrant or not, if immigrant, length of stay, etc).

  2. Understand the repercussions of a breast cancer diagnosis on different spheres of women’s lives (professional, family, sexuality, etc).

  3. Study representations and attitudes towards mastectomy and breast reconstruction.

To study the access to healthcare (including self-reconstruction) of French-born women and immigrant women from sub-Saharan Africa living with breast cancer and their determinants.
  1. Quantify delays in access to care: delay between first signs and diagnosis, delay between diagnosis and treatment, and the social determinants of these delays.

  2. Document how access to care may have changed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  3. Determine individual factors in appropriate healthcare pathways.

To examine how gender relations may shape breast cancer management.
  1. Study the consequences of a breast cancer diagnosis on women’s sexuality and couples.

  2. Describe women’s support networks: family, friends, associations and isolation situations.

  3. Study how breast cancer does or does not modify women’s relationship with their bodies and their self-image.
