MPOWER scoreA quantitative measure of tobacco control policy was developed by the WHO to support policy implementation under the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.27 It is based on a composite score (out of a total of 37) of six core measures:
M=Monitoring tobacco use and prevention policies.
P=Protecting people from tobacco smoke.
O=Offering help to quit tobacco use.
W=Warning about the dangers of tobacco.
E=Enforcing bans on tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship.
R=Raising taxes on tobacco.
